Louis Chenevert is a Canadian businessman and entrepreneur. He was born and raised in Canada. He attended Montreal University where he graduated with a degree in commerce. His degree course mainly specialized in production management. Louis was honored with an honorary Doctorate in 2011 by the Montreal University.
Louis currently serves as the Chairman of the International Advisory Board of HEC Montreal. He is the founder and Director, and Chairman of the Board of Directors for HEC friends.
Louis is the former Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of United Technologies Corporation. He received the appointment to serve the company as the CEO and the President in April 2008.
He later scaled up the ranks to become the firm’s Chairman in the year 2010. He served the company in those positions for over six years until when he officially retired in 2014.
From 2006, Louis was serving United Technologies as its Director. He also held the positions of the firm’s Chief Operating Officer and the President. Before joining United Technologies, Louis had provided his expertise at Pratt and Whitney where he was the company’s President. He worked with Pratt and Whitney from 1999 to 2006.
In an interview with Ideamensch, Louis revealed that he used to focus on talent and ability as a way of bringing his ideas to life. He said that when he was heading United Technologies Corporation, he used to look for the best person to help him in implementing ideas.
Louis insisted that he used to ensure that he created ideas that exceeded the expectations of the clients. He also utilized staff support to develop products and services that would fetch in more income for the company.
Louis remembers some of his past jobs that helped him to learn a lot of things in life. He argues that his experience when he was working as a first line supervisor at an assembly plant allowed him to realize the need for people to pool their abilities together. He had an opportunity to learn how influential people can be when they want to make a difference together.
Louis noted that if he had an opportunity to start his career again, he would focus on internal politics and use them to improve technology.
